Enable and set up Interview Scorecards in Recruiting

This article shows administrators how to turn on the Interview Scorecards feature in Paycor Recruiting.

This article is for administrators.

You must have administrator permissions in Recruiting to access Interview Scorecard settings.

You must have administrator or staffing user permissions to change or create scorecards.

Scorecards are sets of questions sent to interviewers after they meet a candidate. They help everyone give feedback in the same way, so it’s easier to compare candidates and make fair decisions. This article shows you how to turn on and manage the settings for scorecards.

Set up interview scorecards

  1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking to open the Recruiting platform.
  2. Select Admin, then select Interviews.
  3. In the Interview Scorecards section, select Settings.

  4. In the Enable Interview Scorecards section, turn on the toggle next to Enable Interview Scorecards (recommended).
Note: This is turned on by default when your account is activated.
  5. In the Scorecard Visibility (Standard Users) section, select the visibility for your standard users.
Note: Administrators and staffing users can view all scorecards. Standard users will only see scorecards for candidates that apply to jobs to which they are assigned.
  • Candidate scorecards after submission (recommended): standard users can see the scorecards left by other users, but only after they submit their own.
  • Candidate scorecards before submission: Standard users can see the scorecards left by other users at any time.
  • Only scorecards they have submitted: Standard users cannot see the scorecards left by other users. They can only view their own.
  1. In the Score Range, set the numeric range used to score candidates. This global setting applies to all candidates. You define the score range, whole numbers or decimals, and the language used within the key.
  2. To customize the language in the key, select Score Key Settings. In Key Type, select Custom Key Text and type your text. Add Key Item adds additional score values.
  • The key is visible when filling out the scorecard.

  1. In Scorecard Submission Requests, set when Recruiting sends alerts to interviewers to submit scorecards. Recruiting sends up to 2 reminder notifications if a scorecard is not submitted.
  2. Select Save to apply the settings.

Scorecard library

In this same Interview Scorecards section, you will see the available scorecards.

  1. Select a scorecard title to open it and review the feedback questions.
  2. To experience the scorecard as an interviewer would, select Preview Edit Mode. This allows you to preview and interact with the scorecard as if you were actively completing it during an interview.

  3. For more information on creating and managing scorecards, see the Related articles below.

Scorecards apply to all jobs when enabled

The Enable Interview Scorecards toggle on the Interview Scorecards Settings page is a global setting.

  • When the toggle is on, scorecards are available for every job in Recruiting.
  • When it is off, no job in Recruiting uses scorecards.

Recruiting does not include a per-job or per-job-type toggle to turn scorecards on for some jobs and off for others.

To use scorecards for some jobs but not others, keep Enable Interview Scorecards turned on. Then choose the scorecard for each job to control what interviewers need to complete.

Workaround: Assign a minimal scorecard to jobs that do not require scoring

For jobs where you do not want interviewers to submit scored feedback, assign a minimal placeholder scorecard instead of turning off the global toggle.

Create a placeholder scorecard

  1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking.
  2. Select Admin > Interviews.
  3. In the Interview Scorecards section, select Create a New Scorecard.
  4. In the Scorecard Name field, enter a name that identifies the scorecard as a placeholder. For example, No Scoring Required.
  5. From the Form Toolkit, add a Text element to the scorecard and enter instructions telling interviewers this role does not require scored feedback and how to submit the scorecard.
  6. Select Save. If you leave the page before saving, Recruiting does not create the scorecard.

For more information, refer to Set up a custom Interview Scorecard.

Assign the placeholder scorecard to a job

  1. Open the job and select the job info icon to open the Job Info screen.
  2. In the Default Scorecards section, select the placeholder scorecard for each interview stage where you do not want scored feedback.
  3. Select Save. Recruiting then assigns the placeholder scorecard by default when a Recruiter Screen, Phone Screen, or Interview is coordinated on that job.

Note: The score range is a global setting on the Interview Scorecards Settings page. This mean that a numeric score field is included on every scorecard an interviewer opens, including the placeholder. Add instructions on the placeholder scorecard that tell interviewers how to handle the score field for these roles, and share the same expectation with your interview team outside Recruiting.
