Move a candidate to the back burner status for a job

Describes how to move a candidate to the back burner status for a job so you can pause their progress and revisit later.

This article is for administrators.

You must be an administrator or staffing user or be assigned a role on the job.

Back Burner must be available in your hiring process configuration.

Use the Back Burner status when you want to place a candidate on hold instead of moving them forward or passing on them right away. This status helps you keep strong candidates available for future consideration while keeping your dashboard organized.

Benefits of using back burner

  • The candidate does not appear on the Home dashboard.
  • Your dashboard stays clean and easier to manage.
  • You can quickly find the candidate when you are ready to revisit them.

Put a candidate on back burner status

  1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking to open the Recruiting platform.
  2. Open the candidate's record.
  3. Select the candidate’s current stage: Review, Phone Screen, or Interview.
  4. Select Back Burner
  5. Enter comments if needed.
  6. Select Save

After you move the candidate to Back Burner, the system removes the candidate from the main dashboard view. It stores them in a separate Back Burner status on the job for later review.

Review candidates in back burner status

  1. Locate the job on the Home dashboard.
  2. In the Candidates Pipeline section of the job, select Back Burner to view applicants who have been placed on hold for the job.
Note: If you cannot select Back Burner, and see a 0 listed, there are no candidates in the Back Burner status for that job.

Remove back burner status

You can remove the Back Burner status option from candidates in eligible stages in your hiring process if you don't want that option to be available.
