Turn on re-application prevention for job postings in Recruiting

Describes how to prevent candidates from applying for the same job more than once, so you can reduce duplicate submissions.

This article is for administrators.

You must have administrator or staffing user access.

Important:

  • Your organization must allow application blocking based on duplicate submissions.
  • If your organization is not permitted to block applications, regardless of duplicate status, do not enable this feature.

You can prevent candidates from applying for the same job more than once. This helps reduce duplicate submissions. You can also provide an HR contact email for applicants who may be blocked by mistake.

  1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking to open the Recruiting platform.
  2. Select Admin, and then select Careers Page
  3. On the Settings tab, scroll to the Prevent People Applying to the Same Job Multiple Times section.
  4. Toggle the Enable Re-Application Prevention option on.
  5. Enter an email address in HR Contact Email. This email is used if a candidate is blocked by mistake and needs help.
  6. Select Save.

After you save your changes, the system automatically blocks candidates from applying to the same job again when they use the same email address.

Examples

Example: Duplicate application prevention

  • Before: A candidate submits multiple applications for the same job using the same email.
  • After: The system blocks the second and subsequent attempts to apply, and provides the HR contact email.

Troubleshooting

  • Setting does not apply: Make sure your organization allows duplicate application blocking before turning this feature on.
  • Candidates still apply more than once: Confirm the toggle is turned on and saved. Confirm that the candidate used the same email address to apply.
  • Wrong contact email displayed: Update the HR Contact Email field and select Save
