Understand posting responses and site applicants in Recruiting

Describes the differences between Posting Responses and Site Applicants.

This article is for administrators and staffing users.

On your Analytics dashboard, applicants are commonly categorized as either Site Applicants or Posting Responses. Understanding the difference can help you review where candidates are finding and applying to your jobs.

Analytics dashboard

  1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking to open the Recruiting platform.
  2. Select Analytics, then select Overview. Your Analytics dashboard opens.

Site Applicants

  • A Site Applicant is a candidate who visits your company's website directly and applies through your Careers page.
  • These candidates find your company and Careers page on their own rather than through an external job posting.

Posting Responses

A Posting Response is a candidate who reaches your company's Careers page from a job posting on an external site, such as:

  • Indeed
  • LinkedIn
  • Craigslist

Recruiting tracks this source of information when your company uses Tracking Links.

After you review the Overview dashboard, you can identify whether candidates applied through external job postings or directly through your Careers page.

Examples

  • Example: Posting Response
    • A candidate selects a job listing on Indeed sent from your ATS and applies through the provided link. The candidate is tracked as a Posting Response because the application originated from an external job board.
  • Example: Site Applicant
    • A candidate visits your company website, finds the Careers page, and applies without using a job board link. The candidate is tracked as a Site Applicant.

Troubleshooting

  • Source data does not appear for Posting Responses: Verify that tracking links are set correctly for all external job postings on non-integrated job boards.
  • Candidates appear as Site Applicants instead of Posting Responses: Confirm that the candidate used the tracking link from the job board and did not apply directly on your website.
