Create unique source tracking for scannable QR codes in Recruiting

How to create unique links that track where candidates come from when they scan QR codes on printed materials or digital campaigns.

This article is for administrators, staffing users, and standard users assigned as hiring managers

Overview

Knowing where candidates start the application process helps you see what is working. It also helps you improve your recruiting strategy.

QR code source tracking is useful when you use QR codes on printed materials, signs, or digital campaigns.

Benefits of QR code source tracking

QR code source tracking gives you more detailed information about your sources. You can:

  • Find out where candidates find your jobs — such as flyers, posters, or event booths.
  • Measure how well your advertising works — so you can determine if your QR Codes lead job seekers to apply.
  • Improve your recruiting strategy — by learning which sources bring in the most qualified applicants.

Access requirements

Administrator and staffing user access

Administrators and staffing users can see all job details by default. Only administrators and staffing users can create sources.

  1. On the Recruiting dashboard, select Admin > Company Settings > Sources.

Standard user access

Standard users must be assigned to the job as a hiring manager to see a job's details.

After administrators or staffing users create sources, standard users can create tracking links for those sources.

Best practices

  • Use descriptive source names. Include event names, dates, or locations.
  • Test your links before you print QR codes. Make sure the links work correctly.
  • Use the same naming style for all sources. This makes reporting and analysis easier.

For a Paycor hosted careers page:

  1. At the end of the Careers Page URL, add &gns=source.
    • Example: &gns=QRCode

Your URL looks like this:

https://recruitingbypaycor.com/career/CareerHome.action?clientId=8a7883c66d89610e016d8e2c6a900166&gns=QRCode.
