Sometimes a job receives more applicants than you can manage. You can pause the job so it no longer accepts new resumes on your website or job boards, while keeping the job open in Recruiting. 

This process is also called ending a promotion. 

When you pause a job: 

• The job stays open and active in Recruiting. 
• The job no longer appears on your Company Careers page. 
• The job is removed from free job boards such as Indeed, LinkedIn, and ZipRecruiter. 
• Existing applicants stay in the job, and you can continue moving them through the hiring process.

End promotion compared with closing a job

Ending a promotion and closing a job are different actions in Recruiting:

• End promotion removes the job from the Company Careers Page and free job boards, keeps the job active in Recruiting, and keeps all applicant records available for review.
• Close or fill the job deactivates the job posting, removes the job from all platforms, and marks the hiring process as complete.

Use End Promotion when you want to stop new applications but keep working with existing candidates. Close or fill the job when hiring for the position is finished.

Pause a job posting 

1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking to open the Recruiting platform. 
2. Select the job title you want to pause. 
   
3. Select the More Info icon to the left of the job title. A pop-up window opens.  
   
4. Select the Job Promotion tab. The Job Promotion page opens. 
    
5. In the Company Careers Page section, select the vertical ellipses icon.  
6. Select End Promotion. 
   
7. In the warning pop-up, select End Promotion to confirm. When you select End Promotion, Recruiting applies the change.
