Set up and manage Minimum Qualification questions in Recruiting

Describes Minimum Qualification questions you can add to the application process for any position.

This article is for administrators.

Minimum Qualification questions, also called knockout questions, automatically determine if applicants meet basic job requirements.

These questions appear in the application and have an Acceptable Answer. If an applicant’s answer does not match the Acceptable Answer, the system automatically inactivates the application. This helps ensure that only qualified applicants move forward.

Set up minimum qualification questions

  1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking to open the Recruiting platform.
  2.  Select Admin, then select EEO/OFCCP
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Check Enable Minimum Qualification Questions
  5. Select Edit Minimum Qualification Questions

  6. Under the Edit Minimum Qualification Questions section, select Add a Minimum Qualification Question.

  7. Enter the question and acceptable answer.
  8. Enter a Reason for non-selection. This is required and is used when an applicant selects the wrong answer.  This reason is for internal record-keeping; it is not shared with the applicant.
  9. Select Save
A pop‑up window titled ‘Add/Edit Minimum Qualification Question’ shows fields for the question, acceptable answer, and reason, with Save and Cancel buttons.
  10. Optional: To enable a question to be on by default for every posted job moving forward, select the checkbox in the On by Default column. This applies the question to all future posted jobs.

Edit or delete minimum qualification questions

  1. Go to People > Hiring > Applicant Tracking to open the Recruiting platform.
  2.  Select Admin, then select EEO/OFCCP
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Hover your cursor over the question, select the Edit (pencil icon) or Delete (trash can icon).
A question in the list is highlighted, showing edit and delete icons that appear when you move the mouse over it.

Associate minimum qualification questions with jobs

You can add these questions when you activate a new job.

  1. During the final step, select Next Step before posting the job.
  2. Your list of Minimum Qualification questions created in the prior steps appear. Select the questions that should apply to this job. Select Activate! to post the job.

To add Minimum Qualification questions to an existing job

  1. Select the Job Title from your Home Dashboard.
  2. Select the Job Info button.
  3. Select the Minimum Qualification Questions tab on the screen that appears.
  4. If needed, use the Filter Min Quals search box to find specific questions.

  5. Select the Minimum Qualification questions that should apply to this job.
  6. Select Save

Frequently Asked Questions
